India's compound archers ended the Antalya World Cup (Stage 3) without a medal, after a round of 32 in which all four individual campaigns were decided by the narrowest of margins.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam went down 144–146 to Denmark's Tanja Gellenthien, while Punjab's Parneet Kaur lost 145–147 to Spain's Alexa Olivares. On the men's side, T. Ganesh Mani Ratnam fell 143–147 to Austria's Nico Wiener, and Kushal Dalal was edged 148–149 by home archer Emircan Haney — a single point across twelve arrows.
The recurve draw offered better news the same day: Dhiraj Bommadevara beat Italy's Massimiliano Mandia 6–2 to reach the last four, setting up a semi-final against Germany's Moritz Wieser, while Deepika Kumari's run ended 2–6 against Spain's Elia Canales in the round of 16. Bommadevara and Kumkum Mohod also secured their place in the recurve mixed-team final against top seeds South Korea.
Compound scoring at world level is unforgiving — three of the four Indian exits came by two points or fewer. It is a format where a single nine decides matches, which is exactly why the association's compound coaching emphasis in Punjab remains volume scoring under match pressure.
